With over four decades of legal experience, Wendle Van Smith has been a respected figure in the Houston legal community since his admission to the State Bar of Texas in 1984. Graduating from Thurgood Marshall School of Law (JD, 1983) and Knoxville College (BA in Political Science, 1978), Mr. Smith’s legal practice encompasses Criminal Defense, Civil Litigation, and transactional law, with a focus on contract disputes, collections, and probate.

Admitted to prestigious institutions including the Supreme Court of the United States, the U.S. Court of Appeals for the Fifth Circuit, and all Texas Federal District Courts, Mr. Smith has maintained a commitment to legal excellence. As the principal attorney of WVS Lawyer PLLC, he continues to provide seasoned legal counsel while transitioning from a career spanning over four decades.

Beyond his legal endeavors, Mr. Smith is actively engaged in community service. A member of Westbury Church of Christ for over thirty years, he has served as both Deacon (1997-2005) and Elder (2006-present), and contributed to the governance of Westbury Christian School as a member of its Board of Trustees (1996-2005).

In addition to his legal and community commitments, Mr. Smith serves as Chairman and President of the Delta Academic, Artistic and Philanthropic (DAAP) Foundation, a position he has held since 1995. This reflects his dedication to supporting educational, artistic, and charitable initiatives.

A lifelong member of Omega Psi Phi Fraternity, Mr. Smith has held various leadership roles within the fraternity, including Ninth District Counselor, First Vice District Representative and District Representative. Locally, he has been affiliated with the Rho XI Chapter since 1984.

Outside of his professional and community roles, Mr. Smith enjoys spending time with his family. He and his wife Joyce have been married for 38 years, and they share two children, Brandon and Shelvia. His personal interests include reading, playing billiards, and attending sporting events.
